Orphans for Christ
Pastor Francis Bweupe and wife Alice started a feeding program with 8 children in 2006 at their rented house in Chunga, Lusaka, Zambia, Africa. The program is done twice a week with the help of missionary Bob Andre. The feeding program started as the result of the rapid increase of orphans. Due to HIV/AIDS (14.2%) and high unemployment (68%) in Zambia, African children are abandoned or orphaned. One out of five households have an orphaned or vulnerable child.
Orphans for Christ was started in 2009 with the help of Roger and Kerry Dowell (members of Calvary Chapel Lone Mountain). Currently, they have a community school from pre-grade to grade 3. Currently, they have 76 students at the school and 27 who come for the feeding program for a total of 103 orphans of vulnerable children. This is done alongside the church that Ptr. Francis pastors where the children can be discipled.
In May of 2012, CC Lone Mountain conducted a short-term missions trip to Lusaka, Zambia, Africa. The team worked with the orphans and Pastor Francis Bweupe and his wife Alice. This ministry is something that we want to stand behind as a church.
