I prayed for this

Prayed for 16 times.

Steve Marquez

The chemo I am on is beginning to make me ill. I am not sure how long I will be able to tolerate it. I have been waiting for months for a biopsy that has been delayed due to the Covid-19. As the Lord wills, I will get the biopsy soon and I pray it will show that the tumor has the necessary genetic mutation allowing me to receive targeted therapy which could lead to remission... or not.

Statistics say that I should have died after three years with stage four renal cell carcinoma (metastases to spine, lungs, nerves and now sacrum.) Only 8% of people diagnosed with this kidney cancer survive past 5 years. I have survived 6 years! That is both a good thing and a challenge. Since I have survived so long, I have run out of treatment options. The chemo I am taking is the last chemo available. The targeted therapy is a chance.

I am in God’s hands and am eagerly waiting more years of ministry or the glories of Heaven. Both seem exciting to me. I have lived a life full of blessings even with the last six years fighting cancer.

I have the blessing of a wonderful wife who is my caretaker (She needs your prayers as well. She is under a lot of stress.) I have three wonderful boys and the love of my Savior. I am full. I am blessed.

My wife’s name is Monica, my three boys are Cody (30), Jared(23) and Andrew(21). Thanks for your prayers.
